Birmingham, Ala. -What’s the connection between a turtle, a salamander and a yellowhammer? They are state animals of Alabama, native species to the state of Alabama and are all soon to be the new faces of Alabama Adventure theme park. Shelly Turtle, Commander Salamander and BB Yellowhammer were all introduced to the public on Wednesday, April 25th at a Welcome Party held at Alabama Adventure.

Meet Commander Salamander, a Red Hills Salamander. He is the official state amphibian and a world-traveling adventurer. He’s the group’s leader and is always ready to find a new adventure!

BB Yellowhammer, the official state bird of Alabama, is a good-hearted, goofy, yet trouble-prone bird. Every time Commander leads the group into an adventure, BB finds a way to get them into trouble. Contrary to what Commander says, “BB” does not stand for Bird Brain.

Shelly Turtle is an Alabama Red-bellied Turtle, which is the official reptile of the state of Alabama. She is the brains of the bunch and is always there to bail the others out of trouble, which is frequent with all the commotion that BB Yellowhammer causes!
